Films for Change is excited to present, in partnership with Nova Scotians for Tax Fairness:
The Price We Pay, a movie by Harold Crooks
Please join us for a film followed by discussion that promises to expand our knowledge of big-business tax practices that benefit those with extraordinary power and wealth, while negatively affecting those with much less.
"The Price We Pay is inspired by Brigitte Alepin’s book La Crise fiscale qui vient. Director Harold Crooks (who co-directed Surviving Progress with Mathieu Roy) blows the lid off the dirty world of corporate malfeasance with this incendiary documentary about the dark history and dire present-day reality of big-business tax avoidance, which has seen multinationals depriving governments of trillions of dollars in tax revenues by harbouring profits in offshore havens."
Dennis Howlett, Executive Director of Canadians for Tax Fairness will join us to contextualize the film's content to the Canadian experience.
"Canadians for Tax Fairness is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization advocating for fair and progressive tax policies aimed at building a strong and sustainable economy, reducing inequalities and funding quality public services."
To foster an inclusive spirit the film is "pay what you can"
